McCallum Orchestra

(Community Matters) Scott Collier & Kala Philo hosted a reception in honor of the McCallum High School Fine Arts Academy’s Orchestra, raising money for their 2009 trip to Carnegie Hall.

Luke, Aron & Zach
It was mostly parents on hand and a few friends from the neighborhood. Zach is Kala and Scott 16-yo son.

Scott’s a winemaker, a good wine. I’ve had several of his wines (including Syrah, Cabernet & Pinots). I’d never had one of his Sauvignon Blancs until tonight. They are all quite good. Check out his website here. You can even purchase his Anderson Valley 2005 pinot noir and Santa Barbara County 2005 syrah here
Kala & Michael Griffin
Kala owns Walkie Talkie Productions here. She’s an active social entrepreneur and has even launched a group of entrepreneurs who meet monthly to discuss books, projects, experiences, etc.
Michael Griffin is one a “neighbor.” His company, Adlucent, is located downstairs from their condos. The company is a marketing consultant for company’s creating online market places.
Mimi, Nick & Caitlyn work at Adlucent.
Nick is the co-founder and Michael’s partner
I’ve previously written about McCallum, a very cool high school for the performing arts. It doesn’t receive any magnet school monies from the district, so parents and students fund all special programs and productions. More information at http://www.macorchestrafund.org/
