Iran Bluff?

(Community Matters) yikes, bluffing didn’t work out so well for Iraq or the rest of the world. Drudge:

IRAN MISSILE TEST BLUFF: OLD ROCKETS, BOGUS VIDEO
Fri Jul 11 2008 15:18:02 ET

Many of Iran's claims related to missile tests during "Great Prophet III" war games -- appear to be smoke and mirrors!

The missiles tested DID NOT not have 2,000-kilometer range, the NEW YORK TIMES is planning to report on Saturday.

Iran DID NOT launch a Shahab-3 missile, able to reach Israel.

It was an older missile that was out of production, newsroom sources tell DRUDGE.

And a video showing what appeared to be many missiles being fired -- is actually one missile, filmed from different angles!

NYT's Bill Broad is planning to quote military insiders.

Illegal to Protest in McCain’s World Too?

(Community Matters) This woman was cited for trespassing on public property at the request of the McCain campaign. She poses a really great question at the end.

The Secret Service today issued a press release that they had nothing to do with her eviction. Reports attribute this to the McCain staff.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, how could this happen to me?

(Community Matters) Shameful really. And, it’s looking like a melt down. here

I certainly wouldn’t mind the Ways & Means Committee gavel passing. Have feared his old ways and ethics would bite Ds in the butt as well as block Congressional innovation and reform.

his responses to neighbors’ questions are the height of arrogance and entitlement.

538 7/11/08

(Community Matters) Almost forgot to include this week. From 538:

Poblano discusses recent Washington polls and the inaugural Florida polls showing Obama with a slight lead, though his models suggest McCain +3. Earlier posts note Obama competitive in Montana and the Dakotas – for real. Heard the same from David Plouffe in a conference call yesterday. Finally, good reading on his designation of Tipping Points states – fodder for my PhD in Economics husband, but I prefer the conclusions in executive summary. here

Deja vu Rick?

(Community Matters) Reports that Alabama Attorney General Troy King (R) was caught by his wife in bed with his male aide and will announce his retirement. Whether or not the former is true, we know the latter doesn’t always result.

Nevertheless, wouldn’t be a big surprise . . . ever since college Mr. King has been vocally anti-gay. here

I know, I know . . . not in all cases . . . but in more than not, the most vocal anti-gay men are closet cases. Add the other test – do they date mostly big breasted women and talk about their hetero sexual conquests? – then 99%!

Jesse Jackson’s comments

(Community Matters) Of course I’d heard the controversy, but nothing I had read quoted the comments. Rev. Jesse Jackson:

Senator Barack been talking down to black people on this faith based . . . . I wanna cut his nuts off.”

No one gives up power graciously, not Black men, White men, Yellow, Brown, Red or rainbow. Throughout history powerful men have lied, sabotaged, blackmailed and even killed – and certainly stuffed ballot boxes – to retain their power.

Vision for the Day

(Community Matters) Karl Rove in a tutu, pumps, lipstick and a big ol’ steak around his neck, in the big house for defying the Congressional subpoena.

Mother Issues

(Community Matters) Yesterday, IBM replaced the motherboard in my laptop. Unfortunately, that made it worse. Now dead until new motherboard tomorrow. Grrr

PeopleFund board over last night for light dinner and drinks, discussing organizational strategies and governance issues. Margo hung back and Michael then joined us. A super couple of hours visit. Though, M subsequently had a very hard night – http://www.squirrelsintheattic.info.

E&Y auditors, Care Communities’ Carol Johnson and Baker Bott’s Jordan Herman today. MM early am.

I want my computer back. Posted from my Blackberry

New UT Business School Dean

(Community Matters) Dr. Tom Gilligan from University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business appointed as the McCombs School of Business’ new dean. I’d been hearing from faculty that they’d been diluted in the search process and expected an outsider. New blood probably perfect at this time. George is leaving well financed departments with which Dean Gilligan should be able to build on successes.

Two Shows

(Community Matters) Super meetings about two different plays yesterday. Steven, Christie, Natalie and I met to discuss Steven’s newest play, scheduling, theaters, production staff and budget. Good progress. Not ready to disclose.

Michael Mitchell, Katie Pearl and I met immediately after to discuss the production of his two pieces (Highway Home & Them) in one evening, Two Fountains. Will open 11/29 at Salvage Vanguard Theatre. Auditions scheduled for August. We need 5 actors.
