Texas GOP Declares War on Dildos

(Community Matters) A federal appeals court turned down Attorney General Greg Abbott’s attempt to reinstate a ban on the sale and marketing of sex toys Friday, upholding its previous ruling that the prohibition violated Texans’ right to privacy. here

Give me a break. Pull-up-the-rope Attorney General Abbott, don’t we have more to focus on? Like improving competence at DPS, TxDot, Health & Human Services. Other real priorities; why a Texas GOP war on dildos?

subsequent: looks as if the AAS deleted this blog posting off their site here. Is dildo an unacceptable term? Seriously? Or is it simply the use of dildo and Texas GOP in the same sentence?

Seriously?

(Community Matters) You gotta be kidding me

this is even sillier. Though, if what Sean writes on 538 here is true about how you look and no one listening, the last laugh would be on the McCain campaign wouldn’t it?

Smithville is quaint. Unleaded plus $3.88/gal at Bastrop HEB ($3.99/gal yesterday at Valero on Guadalupe). Posted from my blackberry

Wal-Mart

(Community Matters) Just when I was beginning to ease up on Wal-Mart given their progress offering more & better health insurance to employees and their customer discounted prescription drug programs, they go and start scaring their 180,000+ plus employees, manipulating them in the presidential election here. Gloves off – this company out of control and perhaps Theodore Roosevelt time again.

Housing Reform Legislation

(Community Matters) Thornton cites Lawrence Lindsey’s excellent summary of the housing reform legislation (it ain’t pretty) at Insomniactive.

Houston

(Community Matters) Lots of fun in Houston tonight. Our hosts, Becca & John Thrash, and their home exquisite. Becca often cited as the new Lynn Wyatt; I’d object to the comparison and say she’s her own fabulous self with south Texas authenticity & hospitality, just at ease among NYC blue book & European royalty chums. Earlier with Kirk Rudy popped into his mom’s 21st floor home overlooking Houston’s museum district & downtown, an eclectic gallery of fine contemporary art itself.
