No disrepect to the citizens of Alaska. Admittedly, this is the pot (a Texan) calling the kettle (Alaska) black.
Let’s not forget, in our state, a group of powerful men picked a well-named ne’er do well, helped him buy a baseball team, build a new stadium, accumlate chump change (in their worlds) wealth, elected him as governor (were he then turned over the keys to UT’s permanent university fund to the private equity firm of one), elected him president (where he turned over regulation and oversight of energy contracts to another) and appointed the paid lobbyists of the others to presidential offices of stewardship, all while turning a surplus into deficit and borrowings big enough to threaten the entire world’s economy.
