Community Matters 
This Board of Education has been doing our kids a huge disservice, in my opinion. It has honestly just become silly and this “conservative” faction is driving our curriculum off a cliff. I fear that our educational system in the state and, thus, are kids are going to be a joke to others in this country. The conversation with the Board seems to be controlled by a small & vocal group – and the article is right that most people have no idea about their power. A good friend worked for a textbook publishing company and woke me up to this issue a little while back. And because of Texas’ purchasing power, what we decide about our curriculum necessarily affects other states.
