Censoring the Internet

(Community Matters) Such a crock – anyone with a general counsel could easily wreck havoc on free speech.

One response to “Censoring the Internet

  1. This is scary and the fact that so many in Congress are in favor of it shows how powerful corporate lobbies are in shaping laws in this area. The thing is – we already have a law protecting intellectual property on the web – it’s the Digital Millenium Copyright Act. And you don’t need a general counsel to use it, either – I’ve probably filed 200 complaints and had stolen material removed from websites over the years and I’m no lawyer. The TV networks and movie studios are forever getting videos removed from YouTube. The system works as it is. This new law goes way too far and looks to throw a monkey wrench in the creativity and dynamism that has characterized the internet over the past 15 years.
