Vanity Fair: Obama’s Way

(Community Matters) Vanity Fair: Obama’s Way

An excellent article. Walking through the decision making process on Libya and the story of Taylor Stark, I think will make any American proud (R & D). Reading several books & articles over the last few weeks, I’m moved by the attention to the deliberateness of decision making and preserving one’s energy for that decision making.  Below, just a few of the lines from the VF article that jumped out at me – probably not so helpful out of context but meant to provide me with bookmarks for passages I want to discuss with Steven and others.

Circuit of the Americas – Formula 1

(Community Matters) 22 races in 12 months, an international tour deploying the top engineers, racers, sponsors & fans from all around the world, for three days of festivities culminating in a 2-hour race . . . I might become an enthusiast.

Authentic Mexico – 16 Sept Celebration

(Community Matters) Celebrating 16 Sept w/ gorgeous food & delicious friends on the Long Center stage while raising money for aspiring entrepreneurs – hits all my buttons! Kudos to Monica Peraza for organizing this third annual gala. Much fun w/ our table of friends: Charles Santos, Carol & Chris Adams, Cookie & JR Ruiz, Kip Keller, Michael Barnes, and Rosa & Juan Miro. bummed ST missed but he was in route to London

The MexNet Alliance’s mission is to provide opportunities to Spanish-speaking individuals that have a small business or are planning to start one, providing its students valuable information and tools that increase entrepreneurial success, creating jobs and generating wealth in the community.

David Garrido organized a slew of chefs who offered gorgeous appetizers during the cocktail hour, plus he prepared the sit down dinner’s first course, a scallop ceviche with habanero, while Chef Carmen “Titita” Ramirez Degollado, owner of El Bajio in Mexico City,  served a pheasant breast in white mole with a bean tamal.

Great turn out for the event – in addition to friends at our table – visited with Patsy & Jack Martin, Joe & Terry Long, Marc & Carolyn Seriff, Leo Ramirez, Erin Defosse, Steve Wanta, Richard Hartgrove & Gary Cooper, Sarah & Ernest Butler, John Hogg & David Garza, Amalia Rodriguez Mendoza, Gregory Vincent and heaps others
