Baltimore Ravens and Minnesota Vikings for Equality

(Community Matters) Baltimore Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo and Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe are my new favorite NFL players, the Ravens & Vikings my new favorite teams. Ayanbadejo came out for LGBT marriage equality and incurred the wrath of Maryland lawmaker Emmett C. Burns. Burns wrote Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti urging him to silence the Raven player from speaking in favor of gay rights. Chris Kluwe has now recorded ads supporting gay rights and wrote a letter to the Maryland legislator trying to silence the Raven’s free speech. The letter’s closing:

General Contractor

(Community Matters) Steven & I work with one of the best general contractors in Austin, Jerry Murley. He recently completed a job for us, another for Kirk & Amy and is wrapping up one for Ben & Melanie. I was just talking with him and he’s got availability. If you’ve been putting off plans for significant repairs or remodels, I highly recommend him and his team (we know & like them all – carpenters & masons). I’d trust every one of them with my wallet, my puppy or my baby – seriously, that great.

Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) said Clinton’s approach is “more impactful for independent voters,” adding that Clinton over time has gained “street cred” with this group. “He’s been through the ringer. He’s vouching for what Obama has done.”

Charlotte, N Carolina

(Community Matters)  last night. we had fun & enjoyed being there to support our friends

Democratic National Convention

(Community Matters) Steven and I attended the convention in Charlotte as guests of Mayor & State Rep Julian & Joaquin Castro. Mayor Castro was invited to keynote the opening night; Joaquin introduced him. The Mayor hit it out of the park!

Lots of friends in attendance – was able to visit with Lynn Meredith, Kirk Rudy, Adrienne Donato, Jamie Citron, Mayor Tony & Carli Martinez, David Corn, Jane Stetson, Mark Strama and drive-by hugs with tons others including Wally Brewster & Bob Satawake, Zachary Allen, Barry Karas & Dana Pearlman, Andy Tobias and Laura Ricketts.

First Lady Michelle Obama closed the evening – wow. It might have been the best convention speech/performance I’ve ever seen.

We flew back to SAT immediately after the First Lady concluded, in to Austin around 3am.
