(Community Matters) Alas, all good things come to an end. Tana, Joe, Margaret & Michael pulled out from the Paisano at 8 this am.

Kala, Zac, Jessie & Scott left just after brunch yesterday. Michael & Lawrence too.

Richard, Gary, Heath and Graydon headed to Marathon’s Gage for the night. Jill & Stephen leaving in a bit. Others’ yesterday, today and tomorrow. Steven and I will spend just less than another week here.

Time for some more quiet time and a bit of time with Marfa natives.

(Community Matters) Turns out I can’t stand missing Parson’s world premiere and even have tickets to Martha Clarke’s Garden of Earthly Delights. Joining Charles there next weekend, so we’ll come back from Marfa a couple days early.

(Community Matters) hmm, I’m certainly not against charter schools, though potentially have reservations about Southwest Keys, its governance and transparency. As to charter schools, I’m a big fan of KIPP and the UT School. But, there are unconfirmed reports SW Keys’ CEO pays himself $600k to $800k from various affiliated entities associated with the nonprofit. I notice that a champion who helped him overcome previous community objections is a substantial vendor to Southwest Keys and that the school will pay rent to Southwest Key and share an administrator. Feels like Austin community leaders are being used to accomplish something Southwest Keys was unable to obtain approval for; something doesn’t feel right here. Hope I’m wrong.

(Community Matters) Been a busy couple of days.

Haven’t had a chance to post from Marfa but Michael Barnes has posted a couple of times so far Tuesday night and New Years Eve.
