Love big West Texas skies, the unimpeded horizons of the coasts, Austin and my husband, the Rev. Dr. Steven Robert Tomlinson, with whom I’ve spent the last 24 years – nineteen years since we were married on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, Canada. Then, married again at St. James Episcopal Church in Austin, TX on June 27, 2015.

I suspect many of the 20-somethings in the Obama Nation of 2008 were naive and overestimated what a president can do and the influence he has on day-to-day life. This is the flip side of blaming all our problems on George W. Bush, which was fashionable in 2008.
And the administration’s policy priorities don’t always match those of some liberal activists. That “Hope” and “Change” rhetoric was vague enough that people could project their own agendas onto it.
People who say Obama isn’t doing anything aren’t paying attention, or they care more about what the administration considers low priority. As near as I can tell, the President and Congress (can’t forget Congress) are very productive these days. The Republicans will take the House next year no matter what happens now (anti-incumbancy) so they might as well get it done now.
