Occupy Wall Street

(Community Matters) While in O’Hare waiting on a connecting flight, I watched coverage of OCW and today’s march on NYSE. It’s horrific that so many are putting a bad spin on the protesters. I’m not saying all are right, nor that some aren’t hangers-oners . . . . but most we met are thoughtful, respectful and democratically airing real grievances. Feels as if because these grievances are against the richest and most powerful industry, protesters are being sprayed, arrested, manhandled and otherwise disrespected. I haven’t heard any corroboration of the rumor that Homeland Security has been involved in coordinating moves against protesters around the country – I’d be devastatingly disappointed in the leadership if this were true.

One response to “Occupy Wall Street

  1. I find it interesting that the people I know who visited Occupy Wall Street in NYC (as you did) and talked to the folks all had the same reaction – that it is not the same as what is being portrayed in the press. I too had great conversations with people there at the park last week, and it worries me that the differences in what I saw and what is reported are so vastly different.
