Seth Maxwell & The Thirst Project

(Community Matters) a 19yo became inspired and has raised nearly $5mm to bring safe drinking water to people around the world. Now – just turned 23, Seth Maxwell and his team have pledged to end thirst for an entire country, Swaziland. They mobilize high school and college students and will raise another $50mm, engaging corporations and philanthropists to underwrite all administrative costs. Coke just contributed the first $2mm. So far, Seth has 500,000 young people following him and the Thirst Project and they’re just about to scale.

Chinese communists prepare to name their next leadership team, as their President (Hu Jintao) retires and the current Vice President (Xi Jinping) is expected to succeed him. Reformist Premier (Wen Jiabao) is said to be battling hard line conservatives.

Bo re: truth? Who knows. Some speculation consequences of his fight against organized crime in the province (mega-city, Chongqing) he governed.

University Medical Center at Brackenridge

(Community Matters) Yesterday was Brackenridge’s luncheon honoring Clarke Heidrick, a friend and force for good in Austin. Clarke is the founder of the hospital district, as well as current Chamber Chair, long time chair of the Shivers Cancer Foundation and has headed many other civic institutions.
