(Community Matters) We’re all gonna miss Bettie Naylor, who passed away in her sleep last night. She was a spectacular woman, American and Texan – an inspiration for Austin’s women’s political and LGBT communities for the last 30/40 years.
She was a founding board member of the Human Rights Campaign Fund, now HRC and helped us start HRC in Austin.
Such an alpha woman – I still laugh thinking of her, Kay Longcope and Nancy Molleda around the same dinner table. Of course she did the same with Ann Richards, Molly Ivans and every other important political Texan, I just wasn’t there as often to stir it up some.
I’m told there will be a service/celebration of her life/party sometime in the next few weeks. No other details yet. AAS story
