One response to “Uncertainty and Economic Recovery

  1. Those Economist articles were pretty unconvincing. The theme of the 2008 election was “change”. Living up to that change is not so easy and clinging to “certainty” only holds us back. People spooked by uncertainty are not people willing to adapt to change.

Besides, the business press was full of articles titled like “Managing in a Time of Uncertainty” a good 10 years before Barack Obama showed up on the national scene. Obama didn’t cause this uncertainty. This recession is playing out just as economists were predicting three years ago: a long period of high unemployment, perhaps lasting 6 to 10 years.
