Fact is, when F1 plans emerged publicly, a mutual friend who’d done business with Tavo Hellmund predicted the scenario that’s emerged. It was said Mr. Hellmund has a long history of deteriorating business relationships and squeezing partners. As to Mr. Ecclestone, his sleeze & history for bad faith business dealings are legendary. The local/regional partners are known, hugely successful businessmen – not likely they screwed up so wildly, nor that they’ll allow themselves to be squeezed in a business deal. Smart investors understand sunk costs and good money after bad.
