(Community Matters) Pope Benedict XVI, his Cardinals and American Bishops have taken to war against women’s reproductive rights and equality for gays & lesbians. They are fighting against women’s rights to contraception. They don’t only fight against equality in marriage for gays & lesbians, they fight against hate protection legislation. I don’t mean to be anti-Catholic; I was raised Catholic; As an Episcopalian, I’m sorta still Catholic. These men are misguided and very wrong.

Community Matters 
Why not just go ahead and be anti-cathlolic? There is ample justification for being so. The whole Catholic Church is rotten to the core and Pope Pius (Benedict XVI) leads the rot. I don’t see any reason to dance around the issue any longer and pretend that these men are holy or that they lead a holy body. I’d like to think that love and dialouge can help us reach common ground. I believe that can happen with lay Catholics. But, I don’t hold out any hope whatsover for the hierarchy of the Church. Truly sad. I wish that the many good and decent lay leaders of the Church could override the edicts of Rome and Rome’s lickspittles (to use your term), the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. But, alas, I fear that is wishful thinking on my part.
