btw, its impact is bigger than just TT. Seems as the competition has raised the bar for lots of Texas dailies too.

Whatever happened to free enterprise? The newspaper business is declining, but it is a real business. They don’t ask for contributions.
Why should I give to a non-profit that competes with real businesses? The Texas Tribune employees aren’t exactly nuns either. Some of them make 6-figure salaries. I don’t. I have no reason to give them money.
