Unabridged Poll Numbers

(Community Matters) Frank Rich’s column is super (again) http://mobile.nytimes.com/2010/09/12/opinion/12rich.xml

Don’t overlook the reference to media touting the *abridged* poll results. Absolutely right about need to motivate our base. That why we’re investing $50mm cash & $100mm in-kind thru OFA on our ground game. First time 2008 voters can tip the scales in the close congressional districts. If we visit them at their home, the President appeals for their help, the Congressional candidate makes a connection, and we remind them to vote, we keep the House. Lots of must dos, and we’ve done it before.

(Also point that this isn’t a national election; it’s 435 congressional district races and 33 (or 34?) statewide ones. Posted from my blackberry.

  1. Nate Silver says there is a 2/3 chance the Repubs will take the house, and the betting market at intrade.com has it at 71.8%. Didn’t we sort of expect this two years ago? I did. Americans like divided government, and this Great Recession –pundits were predicting it would last 10 years no matter what the government did. The party in power gets the blame.

I’m resigned to it. I’m just glad the House was so productive this session (yay Nancy). If the Senate weren’t such stick-in-the-muds we could have got even more and better legislation. As it is, we did OK.

  2. Its not doom and gloom time yet. We have a strong ground game and yes we may lose some seats, but we may pick up a few more that people were not expecting. Including the Governors race here in Texas.
